Philadelphia Day 4

by | May 14, 2019

Today I went out after my rotations to give some food out. There is a location nearby I found that is pretty amazing – no additional parking and there are several restaurants all centralized. I found 3 homeless people, and one of them actually turned down the food saying that he wasn’t feeling that good (no matter how much I insisted).

There is something so personal about handing a meal and talking to someone who is homeless. This is much different than just donating a few bucks and forgetting about it. I am face to face with a person who may be having one of the worst days of his life and making it just a little better. I am a face showing this person that there is in fact another human being who cares. I made it clear that the money was from the internet and there is more to come.
